E-commerce logistics firm Spreetail has completed a $208 million round.

Nebraska isn’t known for big funding announcements, but that hasn’t stopped Spreetail from getting some serious funding.

Spreetail serves more than 500 brands, helping them drive their e-commerce sales – with analytics, insight and logistics – to major platforms like Amazon, Walmart.com and other sites.
On Feb. 23, 2023, Spreetail closed a $208 million funding round, with McCarthy Capital, internal management and other investors as major investors.

Funding for Amazon’s so-called “aggregator startups” has dwindled since the highs of 2020-21, when online retailing hit new record highs due to pandemic blockchains and consumers relying more on shipping.

“Many brands, aggregators and agencies are heavily credit-backed in 2023,” CEO Brett Toome said in a release. “We’ve read the writing on the wall about post-pandemic changes in consumer behavior combined with inflationary challenges and have repositioned Spreetail to invest more in brand partnerships, technology and organization this year.”

Spreetail said it would reach $1 billion in revenue in 2021.

In October, however, it was revealed that the company had laid off a “significant number” of what was believed to be 800 employees.
